Overview & Mission
The Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) is Pakistan’s foremost non-profit, free-to-public healthcare organization, offering comprehensive medical services without charge. Since its inception, IHHN has focused on equitable, high-quality healthcare, anchored in its guiding philosophy: compassion, resilience, and trust.
History & Growth
IHHN began in 2005 when a hospital in Korangi, Karachi, donated by Islamic Mission Trust, was transformed into the first paperless, cashless hospital in Pakistan. From this single location, the network has expanded to more than a dozen hospitals across major cities, numerous primary care and outreach centers, blood banks, rehabilitation units, and a dedicated pediatric oncology facility.
Major Campuses & Facilities
- Korangi Campus, Karachi: IHHN’s flagship location, this tertiary-care hospital has over 300 beds and is being expanded into a 1,500‑bed facility across ~20 acres.
- QF, NST & SMP Campus, Lahore: A 600‑bed tertiary hospital built through public-private partnerships; its first 100 beds became operational in mid‑2022.
- Planned Hyderabad Facility: Announced in 2023, aiming to replicate tertiary‐care standards similar to Karachi.
- Nationwide Primary Care Network: Over 30 community health centers, mobile van clinics, container clinics, and boat clinics serving rural and remote populations.
Clinical & Public Health Programs
IHHN’s services go beyond inpatient care, including integrated public health and outreach:
- Primary Care & MNCH: Maternal, neonatal, child health, immunization, family planning, nutrition, lactation, deworming, and safe delivery.
- TB Elimination “Zero TB”: Active case finding via mobile X-ray units in multiple cities; preventive therapy for thousands of contacts.
- Hepatitis C & HIV Clinics: Free testing and treatment access for marginalized populations.
- Lung Health & Malaria Programs: Spirometry services, pulmonary rehab, tobacco cessation, vector-control efforts covering KPK and Balochistan.
